Near the grand stupa stands Chunar sandstone pillar or the Asokan pillar, which has ashokan edicts inscribed on it warning against schism within Buddhism.
Sanchi Stupa 2 on the edge of a hill is famous for the stone balustrade encircling it.
Sanchi Stupa 3 is crowned with an umbrella of polished stone. The relics of Buddha's disciples are found in its innermost chamber.
The most famous of the Stupas is the Sanchi Stupa 1 originally built by Mauryan King Ashoka.
The museum run by the archeological survey of India displays various artifacts used by the Buddhist monks and discovered during the excavation of the Sanchi site.
