Carved out of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh is the 26th state of the Indian Union. Called Dakshin Kaushal in ancient times it is a state with rich and prominent tribal culture. Dussehra is also an important festival of Chhattisgarh, which is celebrated in a very different way from the Dussehra usually celebrated. In other parts of India it is celebrated on the occasion of Ram returning to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. But here it is focused on the local goddess Sri Danteshwari Mai. In this festival all the local deities are brought together and assembled at the temple of Danteshwari Mai, after which all celebrations are made.
