Kamakhya Temple
Situated on the Nilachal hill, Kamakhya Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya. The temple is built at an altitude of 525 feet high above the sea level and offers a breathtaking view of brimming Brahmaputra River and the city. It is believed that when Sati (God of Power) was cut into 51 pieces by the Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu one piece (Yoni Vagina) was dropped here. Daily the Temple is opened from 8:00 in the morning to sunset except 2 hours in the afternoon.
Basistha
The Ashram is situated on Sadhya Chal Hill at a distance of 12 kilometers from Gawahati. It is believed that this beautiful Ashram was the Hermitage of sage Basistha (Vasistha). Three streams flowing through the place Sandhya, Lalita and Kanta add charm to this Pilgrimage.
Hajo
Hajo is located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra. It is a sacred place for Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims. Hajo is also famous for its bell metal work. Hajo is located at a distance of 25 kilometers from Gawahati.
Mahabhairav
Mahabhairav Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at a distance of one kilometer north of the tourist lodge on MC road.
