The banks of this tank houses famous temples: The Shivdol (built in 1734), Vishnudol and the Devidol. There are also Muslim Dargahs, Buddhist and Sakta shrines nearby Sibsagar.

Two historic monuments were built by King Rudra Singha during 1696-1714 AD namely Kareng Ghar and Talatal Ghar served as a military station of the Ahom Kings. At a distance of about 6 kilometers from Sibsagar is a seven storeyed palace - three of which below the ground level are known as Talatal Ghar. Ahom Museum situated on the banks of Sibsagar Lake, exhibits clothes, swords, manuscripts, goblets and platters used by the Ahom rulers.
