Chilka Lake

This coastal lake on the south of river Mahanadi is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a sandy ridge. The lake provides livelihood to thousands of fisherman as it has a large variety of fish population. Chilka Lake also has an impressive avian population both native and migratory e.g. the flamingoes, Siberian crane etc. and is a delightful spot for bird watching.
