Mukteshwara Temple

Mukteshwara temple is also important because it was built during the transition phase of early and late school of Kalingan architecture. It is an innovative architecture of the time as the builder has successfully and brilliantly incorporated the elements of the old and new designs in it. This 35 feet high structure is also described as a harbinger of new culture. It has a stunning gateway and the arched gateway or 'torana' is beautifully decorated with sculptures, female figurines, monkeys, peacocks etc.
Several small shrines can be located in the compound with a lingam inside. There is a sacred tank on the eastern side of the temple compound and a well on the southwestern corner, which is believed to cure fertility problems. Figures of ascetics in meditative pose are also carved on the temple wall.
