Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary:

Located in the Sambhalpur district of Orissa is the Ushakothi or the Badarma Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located in the western Orissa and has wide variety of fauna including leopard, tigers, hyena, wild boar, spotted bear, porcupine etc. It also has an impressive variety of avian and reptile population making it more attractive to the tourists. Racket tail dragons and flying squirrel are also some of the major attractions here.

Established in 1962 with a forest cover of 285 square kilometer, it comprises of dry deciduous forest type and floral species including Sal, sandalwood, neem, arjun, acacia etc.

When to visit Ushakothi Sanctuary:

Best time to visit is from October to April.

Simlipal Wildlife Sanctuary:

Located in the Mayurbhanj district of Orissa, Simlipal is an important national park of India. Spread over an area of 2750 square kilometers it is known for the Royal Bengal Tigers. With deep green forests, velvety grasslands and meadows, amazing waterfalls, and sky touching peaks, Simplipal is simply heaven on earth. The biodiversity of Simlipal Wildlife Sanctuary is amazing and awesome, which should not be missed at any cost on your Tour of Orissa.

Simlipal Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of the project tiger scheme and this tiger reserve has over 95 Royal Bengal Tigers. It also has other interesting animal species like leopard, elephants, crocodile etc. More than q and a variety of reptile species are found in the park. Other notable species include Chital, Pangolin, Langur, Rhesus monkey, Peafowl, Hornbill, Hyena, Jackal, and Vultures etc.
