The place was once full of wild berries and was called Badrivan (forest of berries) and therefore the place is called Badrinath. There are many hot water and thermal springs like tapt kund and Narad Kund in the area. Best season to visit Badrinath:
The place can be visited from May to October. The temple of Badrinathji opens up every year in May and closes for winter in November as the temperature goes down below zero and there is a heavy snowfall.

By Air: nearest airport is at JollyGrant-Dehradun.
By Rail: nearest railhead is at Rishikesh.
By Road: There is no direct bus service to Badrinath. It is connected by trek route to Gangotri, which in turn is connected by the road network.
