Kausani Tours


At an altitude of 1,890m above the sea level in the Almora district of Uttaranchal is situated a beautiful place called Kausani.Covered with deep pine forests and majestic mountains Kausani is the birthplace of a famous poet Sumitra Nandan Pant. In 1929 Mahatma Gandhi stayed here and wrote his thoughts in a book called "Anasaktiyog". The place where he stayed is called Anasakti Ashram. The Ashram set against the backdrop of mountains offers a good resting place for travelers and also has a library.

You can have a spectacular 300km. wide view of the Himalayan mountain range from here. People come here to see the stunning sunrise. The peaks clearly visible from here are peak Trishul, Nanda Devi peak With 5.2sq.km area covered with thick forests and snowcapped mountains Kausani is indeed one of the best hill stations on earth.

The places which can be visited from Kausani are:

Pant museum-named after famous poet Sumitra Nandan Pant, The daily use articles, letters poems etc. of the poet are displayed here.

Someshwar-Shiva temple built by king Somchand of Chand Dynasty. Someshwar fair is held here in every March.

Baijnath-It is a temple situated on banks of river Gomti.

Pinakeshwar-is a temple of lord Shiva.

Chaukori-famous for the view of Himalayan peaks.

Pindari Glacier- It is 3 km.long and 250 m wide. Best time to visit is April, May, September and October. Trekking equipments can be hired.

Sunderdoonga and Kafni Glaciers- This place is for the people who are more adventurous. It is advisable to visit the place with experienced guide and proper equipments.

Besides these places, other hill stations are also well connected to kausani through road like Nainital, Ranikhet etc.

When to visit Kausani?

The best time to visit Kausani is from April to June and from September to November
