Papier Mache
Papier Mache means refers to a substance made from paper pulp that can be molded when wet and painted when dry. The waste paper is first converted into pulp by mixing it with copper sulphate and rice-flour paste and then its layers are pressed in a mould. After drying the desired article is obtained. Then on the mould of the article is painted and polished in bright colors. As the art flourished in Persia, a touch of Golden color is always found in the articles.
Many utility items can be chalked out by Papier Mache method. In India, Kashmiri craftsmen turned a variety of utility items into decorative pieces.
