Ajmer Pilgrimage Tours
Ajmer Sharif in Jaipur is one of the most popular religious destinations for Muslims. It is located at a distance of 135 kilometers south west of Jaipur. People all over the globe visit this sacred place every year. The main attraction of the town is the Dargah-e-Sharif (Tomb) of Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti.
Legend says that after a six-day prayer in seclusion, Khawaja retired for heavenly abode in 1256 A.D. These six days are celebrated as annual Urs and are attended by countless pilgrims irrespective of their religion, faith and culture. People make offerings of rose and jasmine flowers to seek the blessings of the Khawaja. The shrine is a place of wish fulfillment for those who pray with devout devotion.
The Dargah Sharif is located at the foot of a desolate hill. It is the place where the Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti's corporal remains lie buried. This beautiful white marble shrine was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Humayun and was completed by his successor Akbar. Emperor Akbar also sought blessings for his son at the Dargah Sharif. From Agra he used to undertake a pilgrimage to visit the Dargah every year.
Enter the Dargah through Dargah Bazaar. The threshold of Dargah has ornately carved silver doors. The tomb of Sufi saint is bordered by a silver railing and is partially covered with a marble screen. For women devotees, Jahanara, daughter of Shah Jahan got a separate room constructed for offering prayers.
Other major attractions in the vicinity of the Dargah are tomb of Bhishti, tomb of Saint's daughter-Bibi Hafiz Jama, tomb of Shah Jahan's daughter Chimni Begum.
