Mathura Pilgrimage Tours

Mathura is a holy city in India and is known as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. In Adi Purana it is stated that a person who dies in Mathura, the land of Krishna, attains salvation. Every year the city receives innumerable pilgrims. The city is mentioned in ancient and modern mythological tales about Lord Krishna.

It is also known as Brij Bhoomi. There are many temples in the city depicting Lord Krishna in all eight incarnations. Krishna' s life from childhood to attainment of adulthood is described as jeevan leelas. In various paintings and frescoes, Lord Krishna is shown as a butter thief (makhan chor), lover of gopis (Rasiya), soldier, statesman and an ideal lover (in a painting of Radha Krishna couple). As one enters the city, one gets wrapped up in an atmosphere of sacredness and feels spiritual satisfaction.

Dwarkadhish Temple was built in 1814. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The Temple depicts an excellent work of art. The interiors of the Temple are adorned with the images of the Lord Krishna with His beloved Radha. There are images and idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Ranghbhumi in Mathura spreads the message that one should be bound to one's duty. It explains why Lord Krishna had to slay his maternal uncle Kansa for the welfare of people.

Today Mathura city is not only famous for its temples. There are Buddhist destinations as well in Mathura that attract a number of Buddhist monks and people of all faiths. After mahaparinirvana of Gautam Buddha, this place became a famous centre for Buddhists. According to Fa-Hein, Chinese traveler, there are about twenty Buddhist monasteries, three stupas and five Deva temples in Mathura
