Rameshwaram Temple in Tamil Nadu is an important pilgrimage of India. The city is often called the 'Benaras of South'. Dhanushkodi derives its name from Lord Rama's bow. It is situated at a distance of 8 kilometers from Rameshwaram. It is believed that the boulders around the sea between Sri Lanka and this place were used by Hanuman to reach across Sri Lanka.
