Rameshwaram Pilgrimage Tours

Rameshwaram Temple in Tamil Nadu is an important pilgrimage of India. The city is often called the 'Benaras of South'. The presiding deity of the Temple is The Linga Of Sri Ranganatha (one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India). To attain salvation (moksh) one must visit this temple at least once during their lifetime.

Ramanathaswamy Temple is located on the island in the Gulf of Mannar. It is the most important Temple of South India. Built around 17th century, the Temple boasts of 1,200 granite columns. The gopuram stands at a height of 54 meter. Embellished columns and flamboyant interiors add charm to the Temple. It is said that Pilgrimage to Kashi is not completed without visiting Rameshwaram. There are 2 wells in the Temple that offer water of different tastes.

Agnitheertham is a place where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to absolve himself from the sin he committed by killing Ravana. It is 100 meters away from the Temple.

Gandamadana Parvatham is the highest point on the island and is at a distance of 2 kilometers from the Temple. In this shrine an imprint of Lord's feet on a Chakra (wheel) is preserved.

Dhanushkodi derives its name from Lord Rama's bow. It is situated at a distance of 8 kilometers from Rameshwaram. It is believed that the boulders around the sea between Sri Lanka and this place were used by Hanuman to reach across Sri Lanka.
