Taj Mahal Location
Emperor Shah Jahan decided upon the location for constructing the spectacular Taj Mahal on the left banks of river Yamuna after much deliberation with his board of architects.
The location, architecture and grandeur of the monument are complimented by calligraphic inscriptions in black that alternate with gemstone inlay patterns on the pure white walls of the inimitable Taj. These inscriptions clearly indicate that the location of this memorial was supposed to be akin to "Allah's throne over paradise as on Judgment Day."
With the Agra Fort across the river, the location of the Taj Mahal creates a dream vista as you see reflections of this memorial on the still waters of the Yamuna. With the Char Bagh lawns that are symbolic of four sacred streams in Allah's paradise as described by Prophet Mohammed, the Taj Mahal is a glorious monument that surpasses any mausoleum in the world that houses mortal remains.
Located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh the Taj Mahal stands proud on its splendid red sandstone pedestal challenging art lovers the world over to dare to create something prettier and spectacular.
