Dance Tours of India
Dance is a performative art. It is helpful in maintaining good health, as it is a good exercise. Dances probably have been originated in temples in ancient period. People used to offer prayers and when during prayers, a state of being immersed in the devotions came people used to dance with joy. Also temple dances were performed like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kathakali and Mohiniattam to symbolize the victory of truth over falsehood.
There are a number of Classical and Folk dances in India. These dance forms represent the culture of the regions to which they belong. Some dance forms are a recital of religious and mythological tales like Kathak and Kuchipudi. Dandiya Raas is a dance celebrating Radha-Krishna's togetherness.
Every dance has specific costumes and stylized movements. For example in Bhangra, famous dance of Punjab, people wear turban, long kurta accompanied by a lancha. Some of the Folk dances of India are Karma, Jatra, Paika, Dumhal, Hikat and Namagen.
